Bitumen 40/50 Applications
Aras Petrochemical Company supplies high quality Bitumen 40/50, a hard penetration grade bitumen specifically developed for demanding road construction and industrial paving projects. Thanks to its excellent stiffness, durability, and resistance to deformation, this type of Bitumen is widely used in regions with moderate to hot climates where pavements are exposed to heavy traffic and high temperatures.
One of the primary applications of Bitumen 40/50 is in the production of Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) for highways, expressways, and major transportation networks. Its superior binding properties help create strong asphalt mixtures that can withstand continuous vehicle loads while maintaining excellent structural integrity. The product is also ideal for airport runways, taxiways, and aprons, where high resistance to rutting and heavy aircraft traffic is essential.
Bitumen 40/50 is extensively used in industrial areas such as container terminals, logistics centers, ports, warehouses, and factory roads. Its high stiffness allows pavements to resist permanent deformation caused by heavy trucks, forklifts, and industrial equipment. Municipal road authorities also rely on this grade for city streets, intersections, bus lanes, and parking areas where long-lasting pavement performance is required.
In addition to road paving, Bitumen 40/50 is suitable for bridge deck waterproofing systems, pavement rehabilitation projects, asphalt overlays, and binder courses. It provides excellent adhesion to mineral aggregates, improving the durability and service life of asphalt pavements while reducing maintenance costs over time.
Aras Petrochemical Company manufactures Bitumen 40/50 in accordance with international quality standards to ensure consistent penetration, softening point, viscosity, and performance. The product is available in new 180 kg steel drums, jumbo bags, bitutainers, and bulk shipments to meet various project requirements worldwide.
With reliable quality, competitive pricing, and efficient global logistics, Aras Petrochemical Company has become a trusted supplier of Bitumen 40/50 for contractors, distributors, and infrastructure developers seeking durable and high performance asphalt solutions for modern construction projects.
Bitumen 40/50 Formulation
Bitumen 40/50 is not formulated by mixing fixed ingredients like a chemical compound. It is a petroleum derived binder produced through the refining of crude oil, with its properties controlled during the refining process to achieve the required penetration grade (40–50 dmm).
Bitumen 40/50 is manufactured from carefully selected crude oil through the vacuum distillation process in petroleum refineries. During production, the lighter hydrocarbon fractions such as gasoline, kerosene, diesel, and lubricating oils are separated from the heavier residue. The remaining vacuum residue is then processed and controlled to obtain the required penetration grade of 40/50, ensuring the desired hardness, viscosity, softening point, and durability.
Composition:
Asphaltenes: 15–30% (provides hardness and stiffness)
Resins: 30–45% (improves adhesion and elasticity)
Aromatic hydrocarbons: 30–45% (enhances flexibility and workability)
Saturated hydrocarbons: 5–15% (contributes to durability and aging resistance)
The exact composition varies depending on the crude oil source and refinery process, but the finished product must comply with the relevant penetration grade specifications.
Bitumen 40/50 Packing
Packing of our bitumen would be 180 kg new steel drums and 1000 kg Jumbo bags.
