BITUMEN 60/70 FEATURES

Here are some of its features:

Viscosity: Bitumen 60/70 has a moderate viscosity, which means it flows well at higher temperatures but retains its cohesion and stiffness at lower temperatures.
Penetration: It typically has a penetration value between 60 and 70 at 25°C, indicating its consistency and hardness.
Softening Point: The softening point of Bitumen 60/70 is around 60-70°C. This parameter indicates the temperature at which the bitumen softens and starts to flow under specific conditions.
Ductility: It possesses good ductility, allowing it to deform under tensile stress without cracking. This is important for ensuring flexibility and durability in road construction.
Adhesion: Bitumen 60/70 exhibits excellent adhesion properties, allowing it to bind well with aggregates and other materials commonly used in asphalt mixes.
Durability: It offers good resistance to weathering, aging, and temperature fluctuations, making it suitable for various climatic conditions.
Waterproofing: Bitumen 60/70 is commonly used as a waterproofing agent due to its impermeability to water and ability to form a durable waterproof layer.
Versatility: It can be easily mixed with aggregates and additives to produce asphalt mixes with desired properties for different applications.
Cost-effectiveness: Bitumen 60/70 is relatively cost-effective compared to other binders, making it a preferred choice in many construction projects.
Storage Stability: Properly stored Bitumen 60/70 maintains its properties over time, ensuring consistent performance during construction and over the lifespan of the infrastructure

Bitumen 60/70 technical details

The quality of this type of bitumen shows its characteristics and specifications. In addition to penetration testing, there are tests used to determine bitumen grades, including viscosity, softening point, shape, heat loss, and flash point.

Some of these are more important for bitumen penetration 60/70 suppliers and customers. These are the softening point and the Flashpoint.

According to the ASTM D36 method, the softening point of this grade of bitumen is between 49 and 56 ° C and the flash point of this grade of bitumen is 250 ° C.

Bitumen 60/70 Applications

Here are some applications where Bitumen 60/70 is commonly used:

Road Construction: Bitumen 60/70 is extensively used in road construction for paving roads and highways. It serves as a binding agent in asphalt concrete, providing durability and resistance to weathering and traffic loads.
Roofing: In the construction industry, Bitumen 60/70 is used as a waterproofing agent for roofing materials. It’s applied as a coating or membrane to protect buildings from water infiltration.
Waterproofing: Apart from roofing, bitumen 60/70 is also utilized in waterproofing applications for structures like basements, bridges, and tunnels. Its adhesive properties make it an effective barrier against water penetration.
Pavement Preservation: Bitumen 60/70 is employed in pavement preservation techniques such as chip sealing and slurry sealing to extend the lifespan of roads and prevent deterioration caused by weathering and traffic.
Emulsions and Cutbacks: Bitumen 60/70 can be used to produce bitumen emulsions and cutback bitumen. Emulsions are used for applications where rapid setting and curing are required, while cutback bitumen is used in areas where temperatures are too low for conventional bitumen application.
Marine Applications: Bitumen 60/70 finds applications in marine construction for protecting underwater structures such as pilings and docks against corrosion and water damage.
Adhesives and Sealants: Due to its adhesive properties, Bitumen 60/70 is used in the manufacturing of adhesives and sealants for various industrial and construction purposes.
Paints and Coatings: Bitumen 60/70 is used as a component in paints and coatings, particularly in anti-corrosive coatings for metal surfaces and as an additive to improve the durability and weather resistance of coatings.

Bitumen 60/70 Formulation

Bitumen with penetration between 60 till 70 is known by some formula according to application in industries such as:

Elementally, it contains 87% carbon and around 8% hydrogen, and other chemical contents are up to 5% sulfur, 1% nitrogen, 1% oxygen, and 2000ppm metals.

Bitumen Products are composed mainly of highly condensed polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.

Bitumen 60/70 Packing

Packing of our bitumen would be 180 kg new steel drums and 1000 kg Jumbo bags.
