Bitumen 80/100 is a penetrating bitumen grade and it is obtained from the distillation of crude oil in other words, it is obtained from the Vacuum Bottom (raw material for the production of bitumen in distillation tower residue) in bitumen units.
Based on penetration test that indicates the hardness of the bitumen, its penetration grade is between 80 and 100 at temperature of 25 degrees and it indicates its softness and high adhesion and this bitumen falls into the relatively soft category so it is suitable for cold weather.
Bitumen 80/100 Advantages
The advantages of this grade of bitumen with penetration 80/100 include high flexibility, proper performance at low temperatures and reduced cracking and Bitumen Penetration grade 80/100 has thermoplastic properties it means at high temperatures decreases viscosity and at low temperatures increases viscosity.
Asphalt 80/100 is used in a wide range of engineering applications such as road construction, asphalt, construction industries, waterproofing, moisture insulation, protective coating, bitumen sheets , bitumen coating mastic and mainly in the manufacture of hot asphalt mixtures in addition also in petrochemicals and liquid bitumen.
The most common use of this kind of bitumen penetration grade is in road construction and asphalt but this bitumen grade is not suitable for areas with hot climates.in general this bitumen is selected based on climate and traffic.
To improve performance, increase thermal resistance, reduce rutting and durability of asphalt, bitumen penetration 80/100 is modified with nano particles and polymers. The purpose of bitumen modification is to solve the problems that arise in roads surface, increase the lifespan of asphalt and increase the adhesion of asphalt.
The limitation of this type of penetration Bitumen includes sensitivity to temperature and lower resistance to deformation and Bitumen 80/100 is one of the most widely used grades of bitumen, also with reasonable price, it helps increase consumer profits.
Standard packaging of this type of Bitumen would be 180 KG new steel drums and jumbo bags with pallets.
