ALUMINUM SULFATE FEATURES

Aluminum Sulfate Technical Details

Aluminum sulfate is produced with the chemical formula Al2(SO4)3 with a purity 17% in Iran.  Aluminum Sulfate with this grade has wide applications in various industries.

Aluminum sulfate has high water absorption and coagulation power.

Aluminum sulfate is stable in air but soluble in water and is very insoluble in alcohol and alcoholic solutions.

Aluminum sulfate is produced by the acid washing method of aluminum hydroxide by using sulfuric acid.

ALUMINUM SULFATE APPLICATIONS

Aluminum sulfate is widely used in many industries due to its high water absorption power as well as its properties including good coagulation and complete removal of compounds (removal of colored particles as well as carbon, etc.). The most important applications of aluminum sulfate are mentioned as follow:

In the paper and carton industries:

About half of the applications of aluminum sulfate are in the paper and carton industries.

Due to the coagulant properties of aluminum sulfate in paper production, it helps to connect paper fibers. It also removes impurities in paper fibers and increases the strength of paper, and also the paper produced is clearer and glossier

In water and wastewater treatment industries:

The main and most basic use of aluminum sulfate in drinking water treatment and wastewater treatment of industrial and municipal wastewater is the coagulant property of aluminum sulfate that causes turbidity and gloomy of water disappears Also, by creating a positive anion, it causes the negative anions to coagulate and the impurities in the water to bind and attach together and separate from the water in the water treatment process through filtration.

In water and wastewater treatment, it should be noted that firstly, according to the type of water pollution, a suitable coagulant should be used, and secondly, if a large amount of aluminum sulfate is used in drinking water treatment, the amount of CO2, which is known as corrosion in water, should increase. And instead of purifying water and sewage treatment and a positive effect on it has a bad effect

In the Agriculture

Aluminum sulfate is used in agriculture to prepare agricultural soil and help regulate its pH.

It should be noted that before using aluminum sulfate in agricultural soil, should make sure that the soil pH on plant growth is acidic or alkaline. By adding aluminum sulfate to the soil, we increase the acidity of the soil and make plants absorb soil nutrients faster and easier.

Aluminum sulfate reduces the pH of agricultural soil, thus increasing its acidity.

In Textile Dyeing:

In the textile industry, color stability, pattern and design stability are very important. Stability of color and design in the textile industry is done through the process of Gelatin Deposition, in which aluminum sulfate is dissolved in a large amount of water and aluminum hydroxide is produced, which has a very high gelatinous property and as a color and design stabilizer. Aluminum sulfate generally used in the dyeing and textile industry.

In Concrete Production:

By adding aluminum sulfate to concrete as a quick additive (Quick-Aging) is used to speed up the hydration of concrete (Setting Time, time to be taken cement concrete to be harder and shaped) and also to achieve high strength of concrete and cement.

Cosmetics industry:

Aluminum sulfate is used in the production of various body sprays, deodorant sprays, and antiperspirant products. Aluminum sulfate has excellent antibacterial properties and is used in health products too.

In the food industry:

Aluminum sulfate would be used in the production of various beverages and soft drinking as a clarifying agent for drinking color, in the preparation of Cake and bread dough (bakes) as a Stabilizing agent and leavening agent would be used, aluminum sulfate in the production of various vegetables such as tomato would be as a pH controller agent and in the process of is used to purify the sugar beet.

In the production of leather: Aluminum Sulfate is used as a repair agent for colored peeling leather and also for dyeing leather.
